In Africa, the varying sizes of farms, from ½ hectare to thousands of hectares, from 100 chickens on a small plot to tens of thousands of chickens bred to supply supermarket chains, means that we cannot supply a ‘one fit for all’ solution.
We understand that regardless of size, the challenge for farmers is to produce healthy livestock and grow more productive plants. Small scale farmers need to be able to feed themselves firstly, and keep farms profitable, leaving some harvests that can be sold. If small scale farmers cannot make a living out of the land, they will move in to towns thereby undermining food security. Meantime, large scale farmers must produce volumes profitably.
We look at solutions that are affordable to small scale farmers, and cost-effective for commercial farmers. We package our products so that farmers can buy the correct amount for their small farm and apply by hand, or buy commercial quantities and apply mechanically.
We constantly talk to farmers, listen to their needs, and where it is required, provide education on best farming practices.
We test our products in different environmental conditions and make sure they are effective in each region.
It’s all about giving the farmers what they need.
